Your MLA’s Last Political Appeal on the Airport Tunnel

The following link  is a copy of Mr. Kang’s exchange with the Transport Minister on a the Airport Tunnel during the budget committee meeting. According to the Edmonton Journal’s Trish Audette, Mr. Kang mentioned the Airport Tunnel on at least 35 occasions.

This is a sample of the exchange:

Mr. Kang: Have you found that $485 million now? I only need $98.6 million for my airport tunnel, so that’s lots of money there,Luke.

Mr. Ouellette: You know what? The airport tunnel is not mine. I’d love to help you if I possibly could.

Mr. Kang: Okay. Go to page 419. We will come back to that.

Mr. Ouellette: I know there’s not a nicer guy in Calgary working ashard for their constituents as you for that tunnel, but you might have to just write a cheque to the city to help them out, and they’ll pay you back later.

The following link is a copy of Mr. Kang’s letter to Mr. Devinder Shory, MP Calgary North East regarding the Calgary Airport Tunnel. We are encouraging Mr. Shory to lobby the federal government to provide their share of the funding for this tunnel.

The deadline for the province and the federal government to fund the tunnel is Monday, March 1st 2010.

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games

Although I will not be able to personally attend the 2010 Olympic Winter Games being held in Vancouver, I am keenly keeping track of the Olympic coverage.

Citius, Altius, Fortius (Swifter, Higher, Stronger) has been the drive of modern Olympians and it has certainly been on display at the Vancouver 2010 Games. Alberta athletes such as Spruce Grove’s Jennifer Heil and Canmore’s Mike Robertson pushed themselves to the limit to win a silver medal for their country. Of course we can’t forget Montreal’s Alexandre Bilodeau impressive performance which won Canada its first gold medal on home soil.

I would also like to extend my sincerest condolences to Nodar Kumaritashvili family and the Georgian Olympic Team for their tragic loss. His death reminds of the sacrifice which all athletes undertake for their country and the world of sport.

On behalf of all of the residents of Calgary McCall, I congratulate all of the athletes on their performance at these games and extend my best wishes to all those athletes who have yet to compete.
